Dr. Franklin Cachia

Dr. Franklin Cachia is the Head of Legal at BDO Malta, where he leads the firm’s legal function across all service lines, with a particular focus on regulatory compliance, legal risk management, and corporate governance.
He is a specialist in international tax law, AML/CFT compliance, financial regulation, crypto and digital assets regulation. Franklin previously served as Director of Tax & Regulated Industries and Managing Partner of a law and tax advisory firm for over 7 years.

Education

Franklin holds an Advanced LL.M. in International Tax Law from Leiden University, a Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta, and multiple certifications in AML and international taxation. A published author and lecturer, he is also an Executive Member of the International Fiscal Association – Malta Branch.
