Dr. Giannella Barbieri holds the position of Legal Advisory Services Manager and currently heads the legal department at BDO Malta.
BDO Malta’s legal department is comprised of several lawyers specialising in various fields, such as corporate and commercial law, yachting and aviation, employment law and intellectual property law.
Giannella has assisted both local and international clients on a broad range of matters and has been involved in various projects including legal due diligence processes, corporate restructurings and M&A transactions, financing transactions, and employment-related matters. Giannella is also regularly involved in providing clients with legal, regulatory and/or licensing advice relating to the shipping and aviation industries, such as, the setting up of corporate structures, assistance and legal support in transactions, assistance with the registration of aircrafts, ships and yachts with the respective Maltese authorities, and any other licensing requirements.
Giannella graduated from the University of Malta with a bachelor’s degree in law, a notary public diploma and a doctorate degree in law. In addition to having been granted the warrant to practice law in Malta in 2014, she also holds a diploma in taxation from the Malta Institute of Taxation and a certificate in the principles of international taxation from the Chartered Institute of Taxation in the United Kingdom.
