Duties and responsibilities: This role will provide legal services to a wide range of clients.
The Manager (Legal) will be responsible to:
- Act as a key point of contact within the firm for the client. This will involve responding quickly to, as well as anticipating, client requests/needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided, and maintaining regular contact with clients
- Take full responsibility for project delivery on Clients’ portfolios and manage a portfolio of clients
- Review, approve and draft agreements and other legal documents to ensure that these are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements
- Ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets and keep client/partners informed of overruns and plan staff assignments in order to give an appropriate spread of experience
- Providing legal advisory and interpretation to the management to ensure compliance with existing legal and regulatory requirements
- Preparing legal opinions and advising the management on general issues that may arise from time to time, such as internal policies and procedures
- Liaise with other departments within the Firm to carry out legal engagements, assessments or opinions, in relation to specific areas of business
- Direct and assign other members of your team on client engagements
- Review any work carried out by junior members and provide the necessary mentorship for their professional development
- Cooperate and coordinate as necessary with other members of the Legal department
- Must be able to recognise business development opportunities and inform and work with the Partners/CEO and the client to develop these when they arise
- Support the further growth and the development of the Legal function (this may include the design of new service offerings, following-up on trends and sector evolutions and engaging in networking activities)
- Participate in bids/proposals for new work
- Develop contact with clients at senior level and maintain contact with other levels as appropriate to ensure the firm has the confidence of the client
- Act as a liaison between the client and other specialist service groups within BDO
- Consult with colleagues and Partners on technical and risk matters
- Participate in conferences and events, locally and overseas, to further the objectives of the Employer
- Ensure that the firm’s quality control procedures are adhered to including second partner review
- Identify risk and technical matters, as well as selling opportunities, to the Partners, whilst exercising judgement within agreed parameters
- Must provide overall support to Partner/CEO on client matters and assist Partner/CEO in the management of the group, this will include support at times for the recruitment and management of staff
- Work as part of management team with other managers within the business group, and provide support to the rest of the Legal team
- Actively participate in the management of the group through Partner/Manager meetings and by attendance at social functions
- Perform any other duties which may be assigned from time to time, and which fall within the competence of employee
The duties of the Employee shall also include other duties which fall within the competence of the Employee which the Employer may assign from time to time.
