Will the 2027 Malta Budget affect you and your business?
On 26 October 2026, Finance Minister Clyde Caruana presented the Budget measures for 2027. The Minister announced that the Maltese economy has expanded despite ongoing global instability, including the war in Ukraine and tensions in the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz. Real economic growth reached 4.1 per cent in 2026 and is expected to continue at 3.8 per cent in 2027, outpacing other European countries, given that the EU economy grew by just 1.2 per cent. Furthermore, Malta's debt remains well below the European limit of 3.0 per cent.
To sustain economic growth, the Government intends to attract inward investment targeting high-value sectors such as family offices, cryptocurrencies, fintech and aircraft leasing. This strategy aims to promote an economy increasingly oriented towards digitalisation and automation. The tourism sector remains strategically important; consequently, specific incentives for airlines are central to the Government's economic agenda.
