Neil Baldacchino

Neil Baldacchino is a Senior AML Consultant within the Risk Advisory team at BDO Malta, bringing over a decade of experience in financial services with a strong focus on anti-money laundering (AML) compliance and regulatory compliance. 

Before joining BDO Malta, Neil served as Regulatory Compliance Lead at FalconX, where he played a key role in implementing MiCA and DORA regulatory frameworks, maintaining up-to-date compliance policies and procedures, overseeing the classification of crypto-assets under VFA and MICA, and managing responses to regulatory inquiries.

Prior to that, Neil held several positions at BNF Bank plc, including Deputy MLRO and Manager within the Financial Crime Compliance Department. His responsibilities included transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting, regulatory project management, liaising with authorities on AML matters, and implementing profiling rules. He also led internal AML training initiatives.

Neil’s earlier career includes compliance and regulatory roles at Sparkasse Bank Malta plc, the Malta Business Registry (MBR), and the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA). At the MFSA, he was involved in reviewing listing applications and prospectuses, as well as contributing to legislative updates. His foundational experience spans fund services and advisory roles with firms such as Custom House Global Fund Services Limited and EY.
