Lara Borg Bugeja

Dr Lara Borg Bugeja joined BDO Malta's legal team, in May 2024 as a Senior Lawyer and currently serves as the Legal Team Lead, with a primary focus on employment law, corporate services, and fintech licensing. She graduated as a Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 2005, was admitted to the Bar in 2006, and subsequently obtained a Magister Juris in European and Comparative Law in 2007.

Lara has developed extensive experience across government, regulatory, corporate, ESG, data protection, and compliance sectors. Throughout her career, she has drafted legislation, represented Malta in EU and international fora, and provided legal and strategic advice on procurement, employment law, state aid, environmental law, sustainability, and corporate governance.

Before joining BDO, Lara served as Lead In‑House Counsel for a major UK energy procurement company and its subsidiaries in Malta and Italy. In this capacity, she managed a wide-ranging legal portfolio covering commercial, technology, employment, privacy, and corporate matters.
