Andrew Vella

Andrew Vella joined the firm during 2020, as an Internal Compliance Supervisor. Over the years, Andrew has acquired substantial experience in managing internal compliance frameworks. Currently heading the Internal Compliance department and appointed MLRO at BDO Malta, Andrew oversees comprehensive regulatory functions and ensures firm-wide adherence to compliance standards. Throughout his career, Andrew has progressively advanced across several institutions. Responsibilities have ranged from developing internal controls and conducting staff training, to maintaining AML systems. Notably, Andrew has been pivotal in designing and implementing departmental processes and providing strategic compliance advisory services.

Education

Andrew holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Derby, with a focus on Risk Management. In parallel, Andrew pursued the International Diploma in Anti-Money Laundering from the International Compliance Association, Int.Dip. (AML), BTEC Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership from Pearson Education, amongst other earlier AML/CFT certifications and fundamental academic qualifications.
