The MFSA Annual Report 2021, Financial Services

The Malta Financial Services Authority has published its Annual Report & Financial Statements for 2021.

 

In the report, the MFSA looks back at its achievements and key projects undertaken throughout 2021.

 

Highlights for 2021

  • €1.094 billion: The gross value added generated by Malta’s financial services sector grew by 4.3%
  • 13,906: People employed within the sector
  • 584: Licence applications received – more than double the amount processed in 2020
  • 506: Outreach efforts including Notices, Circulars, Consultations, warnings and events

 

Some of the 2021 MFSA’s Key Priorities of the MFSA include the following:

  • Financial stability monitoring with the aim of safeguarding the domestic financial system, in particular for banking, securities and markets and insurance sectors.
  • Enhanced digital transformation through the launch of the Authorisation Process Service Charter
  • Focus on operational risk management with the aim of establishing a structured risk management process across the organisation.
