Gaming Recognition Notice

The procedure established by the Malta Gaming Authority through the 2018 Gaming Authorisation Regulation allows for any company with an authorisation issued by another Member State of the EU or the EEA to apply to the Authority for a recognition notice so that an operator can service Maltese players and/or Maltese licensees. A recognition notice issued by the MGA would recognise a licence issued by a foreign jurisdiction. The recognised licensee itself will not be regulated by the MGA and the full rights and obligations emanating from the jurisdiction of where the licence was originally issued will continue to apply.

A foreign licence recognised by the Malta Gaming Authority has the same effect as an authorisation issued by the MGA for the purpose of providing a gaming service, gaming supply, key function, or any other authorisation in or from Malta. This recognition will therefore authorise the operations of the licensee in and from Malta. The recognition notice is ideal for licenced operators who already have a licence and wish to offer their services to and in Malta and we can assist you with determining whether you are eligible to apply for a recognition notice.
